HOLA!
so again, i am incredibly sorry for not updating this thing. i used to be pretty good w/my xanga, but it's just gotten harder and harder to sit down and update this thing. so what's new? ALOT.
school:
so, i was planning on going back to UNCC this fall, but things didn't work out for me to do that. So, now i'm living at home and going to ECPI for medical assisting. yes, folks, when i'm done, i will be allowed to poke you with sharp objects. be assured that it will hurt you more than me. so, i go to 2 classes every 5 wks and then i switch to 2 more classes. it's really an ideal schedule, bc if i don't like a teacher or the subject, i only have to go to 10 classes and then i'm done. granted each class goes from 8AM-12:50ish PM (with breaks in between), but still, it works out nicely. i'm already done with my first term. i had keyboarding and freshman orientation. both were pretty much easy a's, but they were kinda required, so i'm not gonna complain. they were fun though. in keyboarding, we pretty much went at our own pace and taught ourselves how to type faster, but we did get to listen to music and watch princess bride (she was trying to teach us to focus on what we were typing and not be distracted). freshman orientation was pretty fun too. my teacher was born in johannesburg in Africa. His mother was from India and his father was an Italian man. his accent was pretty fun...it always made everybody laugh. we had a few projects/papers in there, but nothing too bad. we watched a few movies (about diversity-btw, everybody should rent tsotsi...it's really pretty good) and ordered some pizza. overall, it was a pretty good first term.
i just started my second term (the second 5 wks) and so far, it's going pretty well. i have medical office administration and medical terminology. i thought i would wish for death, but so far, it hasn't been bad. the medical terminology is actually pretty fun. it's like learning a new language and i love languages. i'm sure these classes will get harder as time goes on, but right now i'm just enjoying them.
work:
so i just started working at michaels in greensboro (the wendover one) and it's going pretty well. this is my 2nd wk there and i think i'm starting to learn everything. i'd never been in that one when i went to apply, but after doing returns and recovery, i have a better idea of where stuff is. mostly i just work the register though, which has been pretty fun. it forces me to be cheerful and a little outgoing, which is good...i need that stretching.
other stuff:
so w/everything that has changed in the past few months, i've noticed myself changing. i used to be so shy and soft-spoken (and i still can be at times), but mostly i've become less shy and more assertive. i mean, i'm not in your face assertive or anything, but i've definately learned to step up and do what i need to do. i've become a little more motivated, i'm working towards goals now. i think that kinda came about bc of school. my program is only 15 months long (but it might be shorter bc of my transfer credits) and now i actually feel like i'm working towards something. i mean, i'm sposed to graduate dec 2007...then i'll be out, working in some doctor's office (hopefully). after that, i'm even thinking about going back to school to be a RN or something. i probly wouldn't do that til i'd been working for awhile...just so i can see if i'm doing what i want or not. anyways, i'm excited about this program. i mean, i've loved being in college for the past 3 years and i probly wouldn't change anything if i could, but i'm glad that i'll know what i can do when i get out. as it was, i didn't know what i was gonna do w/an anthropology degree. i loved the subject, but i didn't wanna do field work. i didn't want to write. i just loved cultural anthropology. plus, with medical assisting, i get to wear scrubs. they actually want us wearing them everyday at school so we'll get used to wearing them and everything. i can't complain...it's like a step up from pajamas, so i'm happy.
so alot has changed and sometimes, as the wreckers say:
Sometimes I find myself shaking
in the middle of the night
And then it hits me and I can't
even believe this is my life
but overall, i think things changed for the best. i hate having changed forced on me, but sometimes it's exactly what i need.
other than all that, i'm just hanging out and trying to keep up w/everything.
i hope everyone's doing well! i'd love to hear from ya!
